Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Greek letters standing in for E and O

Serif capitals spell "Greek God" on one line, with a twist: both E's are drawn as the Greek sigma and the O is a theta with its bar across the middle. The letters are tall and narrow, with small flared serifs and smooth curves on the G's. Thick main strokes make the line readable from a distance, and the swapped letters reward a closer look.

Greek houses have their letters, and this gives you a joke instead. Put it on the gym bag you carry to morning lifts, running along the side panel. It fits anyone who trains hard or just likes a bit of swagger in classical dress.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
