Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Two words in loose marker hand

Just two words, "Drink Local", written in a loose marker-pen hand with rounded ends and a little bounce in each letter. The r and the a curl like quick handwriting, the dot over the i sits apart, and nothing else frames the line. Every stroke is thick and even, so the phrase reads clearly from the next car over.

Which cooler goes to the brewery lot? That one. Lay the two words along its front edge, so they face out when the lid is shut. Anyone whose fridge holds cans from the taproom down the road will read it and nod.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
