Where it fits

A side window, the quarter glass behind a door, a tumbler or a water bottle. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

The classic skull over crossed bones

A rounded skull sits above two crossed bones, the way a pirate flag draws it. Two oval eye sockets and a pointed nose hole are cut clean out of the solid cranium, and a jagged row of teeth runs across the jaw. The bones are thick with knobbed ends. Every part is a broad shape, so the whole mark reads from far across a lot.

A small rear quarter window gives it room to stand upright, skull over bones like a flag at the mast. Pick it if you want the old pirate mark with no words around it. The face of a tumbler takes it just as well.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
