Where it fits

A rear window corner, a toolbox lid, a cooler side or a laptop lid. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

A skull backed by plumbing tools

Angled brows give the skull a hard stare, and behind it the tools cross in an X: a pipe wrench on one diagonal, a length of pipe ending in a spigot on the other. The eye sockets, nose and teeth are cut-out shapes. The skull and tools read from far off, while the teeth, fittings and wrench jaws are the finer cuts.

Service van doors and work truck windows see sun and rain all day, and this design is rated for outdoor use for up to six years. Plumbers, pipefitters and apprentices who carry a pipe wrench to work will know the tools at a glance.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
