Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Marker-style words for grandpa

Marker-style capitals spell "Proud Grandpa" in one line, the letters tall and a little wobbly, with rounded ends and uneven widths like a felt pen on a poster. The bowls of the P and R stay open, and the crossbars on the A tilt. Every stroke is solid and thick enough to read from across a parking lot.

School pickup twice a week? Then the lower edge of the truck's rear window is the place for it. If the grandkids already shout your name from the driveway, it lets the rest of the street know too.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
