Where it fits

A rear window corner, a toolbox lid, a cooler side or a laptop lid. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Flowing script with a long swash

Brush script writes "Old School" on a rising slant, with a long swash flying off the top of the O and a second tail sweeping under the last letters. Thick and thin strokes alternate the way a pen nib would leave them. The heavy downstrokes read from across the street, while the hairline joins and the loop of the S show up close.

Picture the rear corner of a hatch, low on the driver's side, with the swash trailing toward the badge. That spot keeps the script out of the wiper's path. You know who you are: a carbureted car, lowered on old springs, or one simply kept the way it left the dealer decades ago.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
