Where it fits

A rear window corner, a toolbox lid, a cooler side or a laptop lid. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Three lines for the unhurried driver

Stacked in three lines, the words "I'm Retired Go Around!" mix two styles: tall condensed capitals for the first word, a bouncy brush script for the middle, and heavy block capitals with an exclamation point at the bottom. The block lines read from a distance. The script word in the middle is the one people lean in to catch.

Slap it on the rear window of the car that now does the speed limit and not one mile over. If you have finally earned your slow mornings, it tells the tailgater behind you to pass and leave you to them.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
