Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

A long little dog over a line

A dachshund stands in profile above the line of words, one solid shape from nose to thin tail, with short legs and a long low back. Below it, "I ♥ my wiener" runs in hand-drawn capitals with slightly uneven strokes, and a full solid heart takes the place of the word love. The dog and the heart are the first things you pick out from a distance.

Line the dog's paws up with the lower edge of your back glass and it looks like it is trotting along the window. Anyone with a dachshund riding shotgun is the crowd it speaks to, and the heart in the line leaves no doubt.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
