Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

One word in pen-drawn letters

The word "Blessed" is set in an old uncial-style hand, with a tall ascender on the l, a rounded e that opens with a short tongue, and a final d whose stem curls back over the bowl. Strokes swell and taper like a broad pen turned on the page. The letters are full and solid, readable from a distance.

One word, laid low across the back glass just above the trim, is all this needs. The open letters keep it light on the window. You might pick it after a hard year that turned out well, or simply because you count your days that way.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
