Where it fits

A side window, the quarter glass behind a door, a tumbler or a water bottle. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

A sabre raised in a high leap

Arched back, a performer pulls one leg up behind toward the head and stretches the other down to a pointed foot, while both arms reach up to hold a sabre across the top of the design. The body is one smooth solid shape. The blade and the curved hand guard are thin lines, best read up close.

Guard season means long hours outside a stadium, and the water bottle you carry to every rehearsal is the easy home for this figure, standing upright with the sabre across the top. Members of the line claim it, and so do the parents who sew the flags.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
